As a senior member of my reporting team at Nursing Times, Emma was a great asset and one of my most trusted journalists. She combined the ability to quickly grasp the complexities of health and nursing policy, and other workforce issues, with a clear and engaging writing style. Emma also had an excellent interview style, combining directness with charm. Never afraid to scrutinise authority figures for the “real” story she was also able to talk sensitively to those less used to dealing with the media. I primarily employed as a news reporter, but she was equally adept at turning her hand to longer analysis and feature pieces when asked.

Emma is a real all-rounder, able to produce a wide range of content. When I worked with her at The Lawyer she did an enormous variety of work; plenty of news, of course, but also analytical features and profile interviews, and she was rapidly promoted to senior reporter in recognition of her contribution. She got to know the property beat really well and her regular columns really got under the skin of the market. She also ran several supplements that she commissioned from scratch, notably on property and employment. And most of all, she was a great team player!
