Kia ora. I’m Emma.

I ❤️ writing and I ❤️ books.

So it’s probably no surprise that I’ve spent more than two decades working as a journalist, copywriter, communications specialist and author. Perhaps more surprising are my jobs as a bouncer, postie, flower seller and aerobics instructor. But those are stories for another time.

Working in a wide range of word-related roles, I’ve written about everything from medical research and large corporate take-overs to illiterate postmen and the secret life of soft toys. Find out more here.

I love books of all kinds, but having kids rekindled my passion for children’s books and in 2016 the first of my picture books was published. My kids have since moved on to YA and adult novels, but I’ve stuck with children’s books. And that’s no bad thing. In terms of wisdom, you can’t go past the likes of Winnie the Pooh, Moomintroll and The Lorax.

I truly believe the world would be a better place if adults read more children’s books.
